Aluminum backed sign with black silk screen arrow on yellow sheeting of either Engineer grade or High Intensity grade reflectivity. Mounting holes are the industry standard of 3/8".

State Hawaii: All signs = High Intensity
C&C Honolulu: All signs = Engineer

Engineer Grade is the most economical, but least reflective and is often placed in neighborhoods and on roads with less travel. Engineer Grade is designed to last for at least 7 years outdoors.

High Intensity Grade is three times more reflective than Engineer Grade and is most often used on city streets as well as roads with frequent night traffic. High Intensity Grade is designed to last for at least 10 years outdoors.

Guidance: A ONE LANE BRIDGE (W5-3) sign (see Figure 2C-3) should be used on two-way roadways in advance of any bridge or culvert:

Having a clear roadway width of less than 4.9 m (16 ft); or
Having a clear roadway width of less than 5.5 m (18 ft) when commercial vehicles constitute a high proportion of the traffic; or
Having a clear roadway width of 5.5 m (18 ft) or less where the sight distance is limited on the approach to the structure.

Additional emphasis should be provided by the use of object markers, delineators, and/or pavement markings.
