BIKE LANE ENDS - Supplemental Plaque
May be installed on bicycle facilities to warn bicyclists of conditions not readily apparent.
Guidance: If used, other advance bicycle warning signs should be installed no less than 15 m(50 ft) in advance of the beginning of the condition.Where temporary traffic control zones are present on bikeways, appropriate signs should be used.
Option: Other warning signs may be installed on bicycle facilities as appropriate.
Warning signs call attention to unexpected conditions on or adjacent to a highway or street and to situations that might not be readily apparent to road users. Warning signs alert road users to conditions that might call for a reduction of speed or an action in the interest of safety and efficient traffic operations.
MUTCD Section 2C.44 Design of Supplemental Plaques
A supplemental plaque shall have the same color legend, border, and background as the warning sign with which it is displayed. Supplemental plaques shall be square or rectangular.
MUTCD Section 2C.43 Use of Supplemental Plaques
Option:
A supplemental plaque may be displayed with a warning sign when engineering judgment indicates that road users require additional information beyond that contained in the main message of the warning sign.
Standard: Supplemental plaques shall be used only in combination with warning or regulatory signs. They shall not be mounted alone or displayed alone. If used, a supplemental plaque shall be installed on the same post(s) as the warning sign.
