Aluminum backed sign with black silk screen arrow on yellow sheeting of either Engineer grade or High Intensity grade reflectivity. Mounting holes are the industry standard of 3/8".

State Hawaii: All signs = High Intensity
C&C Honolulu: All signs = Engineer

Engineer Grade is the most economical, but least reflective and is often placed in neighborhoods and on roads with less travel. Engineer Grade is designed to last for at least 7 years outdoors.

High Intensity Grade is three times more reflective than Engineer Grade and is most often used on city streets as well as roads with frequent night traffic. High Intensity Grade is designed to last for at least 10 years outdoors.

MUTCD Section 2C.32 Added Lane Signs (W4-3, W4-6)

Guidance: The Added Lane (W4-3) sign (see Figure 2C-6) should be installed in advance of a point where two roadways converge and merging movements are not required. When possible, the Added Lane sign should be placed such that it is visible from both roadways; if this is not possible, an Added Lane sign should be placed on the side of each roadway.
When an Added Lane sign is to be installed on a roadway that curves before converging with another roadway that has a tangent alignment at the point of convergence, the Entering Roadway Added Lane (W4-6) sign (see Figure 2C-6) should be used to better portray the actual geometric conditions to road users on the curving roadway.
