Construction Warning (CW) Signs: A temporary traffic control zone is an area of a highway where road user conditions are changed because of a work zone or an incident. A Divided Highway (W6-1) symbol sign should be used on the approaches to a section of highway (not an intersection or junction) where the opposing flows of traffic are separated by a median or other physical barrier. The word message DIVIDED HIGHWAY (CW6-1a) or DIVIDED ROAD (CW6-1b) sign may be used as an alternate to the symbol sign. A Divided Highway Ends (CW6-2) symbol sign should be used at the end of a section of physically divided highway (not an intersection or junction) as a warning of two-way traffic ahead. The word message DIVIDED HIGHWAY ENDS (W6-2a) or DIVIDED ROAD ENDS (CW6-2b) sign may be used as an alternate to the symbol sign. Option: The TWO-WAY TRAFFIC (CW6-3) sign may be used to give warning and notice of the transition to a two-lane, two-way section.
