Construction Warning (CW) Signs: A temporary traffic control zone is an area of a highway where road user conditions are changed because of a work zone or an incident through the use of temporary traffic control devices, police, or other authorized officials. Stop Ahead (CW3-1a), Yield Ahead (CW3-2a), Signal Ahead (CW3-3), and Be Prepared To Stop (CW3-4) signs. Installed on an approach to a primary traffic control device that is not visible for a sufficient distance to permit the road user to respond to the device. Permanent obstructions causing limited visibility might include roadway alignment or structures. Intermittent obstructions might include foliage or parked vehicles.
