Construction Warning (CW) Signs: A temporary traffic control zone is an area of a highway where road user conditions are changed because of a work zone or an incident. Crossing Signs (CW11-1 through (C W11-4) signs. Used to alert road users to locations where unexpected entries into the roadway by pedestrians, bicyclists, animals, and other crossing activities might occur. Supplemental plaques (AHEAD, XX FEET, or NEXT XX MILES) may be used to provide advance notice to road users of crossing activity. Standard: Crossing signs shall be used adjacent to the crossing location. If the crossing location is not delineated by crosswalk pavement markings, the Crossing sign shall be supplemented with a diagonal downward pointing arrow plaque (W16-7P) showing the location of the crossing. If there are pavement markings, arrow plaque is not required. Option: Pedestrian, Bicycle, School Advance Crossing, and School Crossing signs may have a fluorescent yellow-green background with a black legend and border. The mixing of standard yellow and fluorescent yellow-green backgrounds within a selected site area should be avoided. Crossing signs should be used only at locations where the crossing activity is unexpected or at locations not readily apparent.

Additional Details

Aluminum backed sign with black silk screen arrow on yellow sheeting of either Engineer grade or High Intensity grade reflectivity. Mounting holes are the industry standard of 3/8".

State Hawaii: All signs = High Intensity
C&C Honolulu: All signs = Engineer

Engineer Grade is the most economical, but least reflective and is often placed in neighborhoods and on roads with less travel. Engineer Grade is designed to last for at least 7 years outdoors.

High Intensity Grade is three times more reflective than Engineer Grade and is most often used on city streets as well as roads with frequent night traffic. High Intensity Grade is designed to last for at least 10 years outdoors.
