Fusible Links

Fusible links are designed to melt and close the cover of a container to prevent spread of fire. Fusible links act as high-current fuses by protecting their circuits from excessive current draw. Installed in hinge mechanisms of spring-loaded drum covers, some dip can and waste can lids, or other container lids. They are designed to melt and close the cover of a container should fire occur in the vicinity, or the surrounding temperature exceeds 160 degrees.
